The Statistical Distrbitubion Tables present first order statistics of the distribution of the backscatter coefficient at each angle, for all target conditions, and at each frequency and polarization listed in the parameter loading file. The Histograms File summarizes all of the source data quantized at 0.5dB increments of the backscatter coefficient from 0 to 70 degrees relative to nadir, with a separate file for each target category. Complete statistical distributions are provided for by subcategories within each of these major terrain categories: soil and rock surfaces, trees, grass, shrubs, short vegatation, road surfaces, urban areas, dry snow, and wet snow.

Ulaby Fawwaz Ulaby is the Leith Distinguished University Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and former Vice President for Research (1999-2006) at the University of Michigan. He earned a B.S. degree in physics from the American University of Beirut (1964) and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (1968).
