Richard Lau is chief scientist of the Internet and Wireless Network Management Research department at Applied Research of Telcordia. Dr. Lau holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He received the 'New Jersey Inventors of the Year' award in 1997 for his pioneering work on SONET self-healing ring networks and was elected Telcordia Fellow in 2004.
