Description
Learn how and when to apply the latest Phase and Phase-Difference Modulation (PDM) techniques with this valuable guide for systems engineers and researchers. It helps you cut design time and fine-tune system performance by showing you how to choose the best Phase Modulation method for any digital communication system, and how to utilize practical algorithms for coherent, incoherent, and autocorrelated processing of PM and PDM signals. Written to assist you in solving the complex design problems you face every day in the digital communications environment, the book details basic formulas you can use to calculate error probability, compares bit error rates for all modems, and outlines the results in tabular form to help you more accurately estimate system performance. It also shows you how to achieve the maximum bit rate at restricted frequency and energy resources. Illustrated with 150 plots, schemes, and block diagrams, and including 600 equations, this book is an essential reference for systems designers and hardware/software engineers involved in wireless communications and signal processing equipment design. Researchers and developers will find the algorithms presented here invaluable when structuring new digital communications systems, and the extensive coverage of Phase and Phase-Difference Modulation theory make the book an excellent teaching tool for electrical engineering professors.
