Until now systems engineering methods have been the exclusive domain of large organizations employing hundreds of engineers to develop and deliver complex, tightly integrated systems designs. This book offers you a thorough and practical introduction to using systems engineering for managing your systems design projects. It empowers you with proven techniques that help you lead a small design team to world-class performance levels. This invaluable book incorporates systems thinking and systems engineering techniques into every stage of design from concept inception, testing and quality assurance, to implementation, delivery, and upgrading. What's more, the book features many real-world examples that clearly illustrate individual techniques showing how they are used together to effectively manage a small design team and to engineer designs with minimal resources.
Systems Thinking and Systems Engineering; Systems Design and Project Management; Design Team Formation and Staff Selection; IT in Support of Design; The Design and Development Task; Design Concept and Requirements development; Establishing and Selecting Design Choices; Optimizing a Design; Suitability and Operability Aspects of a Design; Legal and Security issues; Prototyping and Modeling in design; Change and Future Trends.
